
During high-school and after graduating she gained her first experiences in theatre, film and TV production and advertising agencies in Germany, Poland and Israel. By doing this she had the opportunity to meet and get to artists from different genres such as Ari Folman, Achim Freyer, Jürgen Holtz, Tadeusz Wilkosz, Steffen Herbold and other.
She decided to qualify in arts and studied Graphic Arts at the "Avni-Institute of Fine Arts" in Tel Aviv. She then moved back to Germany and in 2005 she studied Communication Design with a focus on Media Theory and Philosophy under Prof. Thomas Friedrich at the "University of Mannheim" in Mannheim, Faculty of Design, and obtained her Master`s degree in Communication Design.
Her final paper with which she graduated and which was published in 2008 is based on Michael Foucaults “Supervising and Punishment – the birth of the jail” and deals with the reflection of subjective perceptions on existing occurrences. The focus is on safety products and safety precautions, on the subjective feelings of anxiety and how the economic system refers to these feelings to maximize profit.
Dikla Stern works as a freelance artist and designer. She lives and works both in Tel Aviv and Berlin. Her works are part of private collections in Germany, Israel, Luxembourg, Switzerland, France and the USA.
